Our team here at Bluehouse took some time to bake some cookies and cook up some meals for the families staying at The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Burlington Vermont.
There are over 365 Ronald McDonald Houses located globally throughout different countries and regions. The Ronald McDonald House of Burlington, Vermont is one of these special locations. Something that makes this location as special as it is is that it encompasses three programs:
The Ronald McDonald House of Burlington
The home which is located less than a mile from the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital has been providing families with a comforting place to stay with support from staff and volunteers, and home-cooked meals for over 36 years.
The house can accommodate twelve families at a time, providing each family with some comfort during some of their most difficult times.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room
The family room is located in the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital on the pediatric floor of Baird 5. This is a quiet retreat for families with sick family members in the hospital. The room gives off a home-like atmosphere, to help individuals rest and regroup away from a medical setting. This space includes laundry machines, a kitchen, snacks, a private bathroom, and a living area with a television and computer.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
The Care Mobile is a service to help serve children who do not have access to dental insurance. This mobile travels around Central Vermont, providing high-quality dental services to underserved children. The truck is a 40-foot 26,000-pound mobile with two built-in dentist chairs, dental tools, and medical records area, staffed by professionals.
We spent two days at the Ronald McDonald House

We had such a wonderful experience at The Ronald McDonald House. We asked Kristine Bickford, the Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Burlington, what she believes the impact of their guest chefs at the house is, and she replied
"Coming home from the hospital after a long day is the best way to find comfort when everything else seems uncertain. Ronald McDonald House is a haven in so many ways, especially having the delicious food and hospitality they offer guests every day."
Bluehouse was happy to give back to an organization that does a tremendous amount for families going through difficult times. It always feels good to give back to those in need, especially through sharing home-cooked meals.
